What is Lync Web App?
Lync Web App is the browser-based version of Lync 2010 that allows people who don’t have a Lync account and haven’t installed the Lync client to participate in Lync meetings, using either a Windows or Macintosh operating system. It’s a “light” program that takes up very little space on your hard drive and is relatively quick to start using.

It will be wanting you to install the Lync App. After installing the Web App plugin, You can return to step 2 on this screen and click the green 'Join the Meeting' button. Windows 10 will ask you to confirm that you want to switch Apps as shown below. Click Yes to confirm. The Web App will now launch in a new window. Who is it for?
Lync Web App is designed mainly for external partners, such as salespeople, who are invited to Lync meetings, but it is also useful for employees who are not at their usual computer at meeting time, or have not yet upgraded to Lync 2010.

What can it do?
During a meeting, Lync Web App provides many Lync features; these include meeting-wide instant messaging (IM), phone-based audio, file distribution, presenting with Microsoft PowerPoint presentation graphics program, and desktop and program sharing.
Notes:
Sharing and presenting features are dependent on permission levels set by the meeting organizer, so they may not be available. Only users with presenter privileges can share files and programs.
The first time that you initiate a sharing session, you will be prompted to download the required sharing plug-in.
Lync Web App cannot be used to schedule meetings or to exchange instant messages with individual meeting attendees.
Where do I start?
In addition to needing one of the supported operating system and Internet browser combinations, an Internet connection, a phone (unless you’re also running Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2), and an invitation to a Lync meeting, you will also need the Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 browser plug-in, or a later version of Silverlight, installed on your computer before your first online meeting.

Just got switched over to 'Skype for Business' today. I have a standing meeting with an external client that I connect using a standard Lync meeting url:https://meet.TheirInHostName.com/FirstName.LastName/SoMeUnIqUeCoDe
Normally I go to the meeting by clicking on bookmark I have of the url, and a page pops up saying it's connective via Lync, while my Lync client starts to connect to the meeting. Micro sd card repair software free download. Now that I don't have Lync, it gives me the Lync Web App page:
But, if I paste the link into Internet Explorer, Skype for Business opens correctly.
How do I get Chrome to do what IE does? Attempting to install the Lync Web App Plugin doesn't seem to work.

I stumbled upon this today my self in our organisation and had to Enable NPAPI in the Chrome browser.
The reason for this is because April the 14th Chrome update disabled this plugin by default. TechNet Blog
To do this, follow these steps:
Enter the following URL into the Chrome address bar:

- Chrome://Flags/#enable-npapi
- Click the Enable link to enable NPAPI support.
- Restart the browser.
- Click the meeting invitation link.
- Enable the plugin for the meeting join domain by using the dialogbox that follows the plugin warning message.
Note This step is required for each unique meeting join domain, depending on the company that hosts the meeting.

You can also join the meetings directly from Lync, without the need for a web browser. Try the command

You can make a desktop shortcut for it.
NPAPI support in Chrome is now long gone, so we need to try an old browser like Internet Explorer. If pasting the meeting link into IE opens the meeting in the Skype/Lync client, then try this:
